A statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu on Wednesday disclosed that the data from  the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, showed that Osun’s five fatalities accounted for 33.3 percent of the 15 deaths recorded in Nigeria in the last 24 hours. He said the report of increased fatalities was a warning sign to citizens not to treat Covid-19 with kid gloves.

According to data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, published on Tuesday, Osun’s five fatalities accounted for 33.3 percent of the 15 deaths recorded in Nigeria in the last 24 hours. This saw the State’s Covid-19 related deaths gallop to 32 out of the 1,458 confirmed cases since March 2020 when the index case was recorded. In a reaction to the report, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, said the report of increased fatalities was a warning sign to citizens not to treat Covid-19 with kid gloves.

Share The report was made known by the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC), on Tuesday. “Osun’s five fatalities accounted for 33.3 per cent of the 15 deaths recorded in Nigeria in the last 24 hours,” the NCDC said. Speaking on the report, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, said the report of increased fatalities was a warning sign to citizens not to treat COVID-19 with kid gloves. According to him, “Today, the story is different because of the increasing number of confirmed cases that we are recording daily. Osun now sits in the 17th place on the scale of impact of the pandemic on states of the nation.”

Osun first lady welcomes first baby of the year

Share The wife of the Osun State Governor, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, on Friday welcomed the first baby of the year at the state Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo with a charge to parents and guidance to always breast feed their babies properly for the first six months after delivery. Mrs Oyetola while welcoming the baby with a 3.2kg weight at 1.07a.m of the day, maintained that, breastfeeding of the new born baby should be exclusive breast milk to give the new born baby grace to be healthy. Represented by the wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Bose Oyebamiji, Oyetola presented cash and material gifts to Mr and Mrs Ibrahim Olalekan, the parents of the first baby and sought for adequate parental attention for the child.
