Suspect arrested in year-old Holyoke homicide, held without bail

HOLYOKE – A 25-year-old man is being held without bail after being arrested in a year-old homicide that occurred a few blocks from the spot where his brother was gunned down two years earlier.
Jose Gonzalez-Diaz, of Holyoke, was arrested on Tuesday on a warrant charging him with the murder of Raequese Wright and carrying a firearm without a license. He was arrested and arraigned in Holyoke District Court a year and a day after the homicide, said James Leydon, spokesman for Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni.
Wright was killed on Jan. 11, 2020, in an alley near 133 Sargeant St. A Holyoke police officer heard multiple gunshots while on patrol in the area and quickly responded to find Wright suffering from gunshot wounds. He began first aid and Wright was brought to Holyoke Medical Center where he died, Leydon said.
