The Unemployment Insurance Fund has paid out almost half a billion rand to 43,333 workers in the Northern Cape province through the Covid-19 Temporary Employer-Employee Relief Scheme.
With the rise of Covid-19 infections in Eastern Cape schools, the Public Servants Association which represents thousands of teachers and administrative staff at schools across SA has called on all high school pupils to be vaccinated. The PSA in the province said such a move would ensure the safety of all pupils, not just those who were 18 years old.
Hope and planning in uncertain times

“I don’t know where all these learners are coming from,” said Radio Mcuba, Principal of Kutliso Daniels Secondary School. Across the country there has been a huge influx at the start of primary and high school. Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga in her address last Sunday said 16 117 learners were awaiting space in schools.
