13 dead as SUV falls into Kalinga irrigation canal

Published April 19, 2021, 4:03 PM TABUK CITY, Kalinga – What was supposed to be a happy family outing ended in tragedy after the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) they were riding in fell into an irrigation canal, killing 13 people, most of them children, in Barangay Bulo here Sunday. Tabuk police chief Police Col. Radino Belly said a black Ford Everest with license plates AAK 9184 driven by Jail Officer 1 Soy Lope Agtulao, 36, plunged into the irrigation canal and submerged in the water at about 6 p.m. Authorities said Soy died along with her children Cydwin Lope, 6, and Cyan Lope, 4; her sister Sony Puking Lope, 22; her father Alfredo Cutit Lope, 59; relatives Judilyn Talawec Dumayom, 31; Seadarn Dumayom, 5; Jeslyn Dumayom,4; Remedios Longey Basilio, 56; Jessibel Basilio Paycao, 27; Cedric Basilio Paycao, 4; Scarlet Paycao, 3; and Marlo Gel Perena, 6.

P37-M marijuana bricks seized in Kalinga

Davy Limmong said a concerned citizen tipped off the arrival of a vehicle coming from Tinglayan, this province, and carrying marijuana bricks. Limmong said the troops, headed by Police Lt. Col. Radino Belly, immediately put up a checkpoint. But the driver of the Mitsubishi Adventure that was carrying the marijuana bricks turned left 200 meters away from the checkpoint in an apparent bid to get away. Sensing it was the target they were waiting for, the troops chased the vehicle that was heading to the irrigation area.

P13 2-M marijuana destroyed in Benguet

Published April 6, 2021, 4:59 PM LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A marijuana plantation was discovered and destroyed in a two-day eradication operation conducted by the Benguet police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Administration-Cordillera Administrative Region in a communal forest area in Sitio Tableo, Barangay Badeo, Kibungan, this province. Benguet police chief Police Col. Reynaldo Pasiwen said P13.2-million worth of marijuana plants were uprooted in the operation. Pasiwen said operatives trekked the mountains of Kibungan and uprooted 2,100 fully grown marijuana plants valued at P420,000 cultivated in a land with an area of 300 square meters on April 3. Also found within the site was 10 kilos of dried marijuana stalks valued at P1.2 million.

Police building potable water system for residents of barangay in Tabuk

WATER pipes are being installed from the main water source in Sitio Dao, Barangay Dupag, Tabuk City to the beneficiaries. Radino Belly said his team, along with barangay officials, Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team, police trainees, and members of the Philippine Army, have started installing water pipes from the main water source in Sitio Dao in Barangay Dupag to the houses of beneficiaries.
