A new political map for Bury is being drawn up with changes to the vast majority of the current council wards.
SUCCESS: Radcliffe First celebrate a successful local election LABOUR remain in control of Bury Council following a set of results which left the Conservatives ruing what they saw as a lost opportunity. Overall Labour lost one seat to finish with 27 but the Tories were unable to make any real gains across the Borough and remain with 15 seats. Labour were able to win Ramsbottom from the Conservatives with voters also returning to the party in Prestwich following previous concerns about Labour s antisemitism issues. Sedgley also voted Labour with Conservative Carrol Bernstein losing her seat. Perhaps the story of the day was the success of the hyper-local party Radcliffe First who gained two seats at the expense of Labour to add to their two seats in the town.
“Good progress has been made and it gives us an indication of how the digital landscape in Wales is changing, and what benefits faster broadband can bring. NEW figures have revealed cripplingly slow broadband speeds in some Bury neighbourhoods. Across the borough, broadband speeds range from a superfast 185 megabits (Mbps) per second to a snail-paced 0.2 Mbps, according to data from Uswitch.com. It means families using Zoom, Skype or Facebook to speak to relatives and friends could be faced with annoying freezes, cut-outs and sound delays. Meanwhile, those downloading Christmas movie classics could be left waiting up to 120 hours, compared to just one minute 20 seconds in neighbourhoods with the fastest speeds.
