can you think of any precedent where this has happened like this before? no, i can t really. one of the things i would wonder about, and i haven t seen any information about is how did it disaprior from the radar. the plane itself has a beacon that sends a signal. if that stopped then that would indicate that the electricity to the beacon went away. after the beacon went away there was still a radar return from the transmissions from the radar site back to the airplane, then it would indicate that there were after the electrical failure there were some pieces that reflected the radar energy. that would be interesting to know. i haven t heard anything about that. the 777 has a great safety record. the crash in san francisco really had nothing to do with the plane. when the plane was built there was a team of people who said, okay, what we need to do is figure out everything that could go wrong with this plane and we want to make sure that whatever happens there s a way to fix it so
