It seems there s quite the demand for a bistro license in the City of Birmingham.
One more existing Birmingham restaurant will move forward with a bistro application for the year after a lengthy discussion by the city commission during its meeting April 12. The commission voted during its virtual meeting to send the bistro application for Commonwealth Café, 300 Hamilton Row, forward to the city s planning board for its review and recommendation.
Commonwealth Café was one of three bistro applications submitted to the city for the spring deadline and was the sole existing business application this time around, which requires a location be in operations for at least five years. The other two were The French Lady, a new restaurant that opened last year at 768 N. Old Woodward; and Maple & One, proposed at 183 N. Old Woodward.
