WORCESTER The supersite at Worcester State University has started administering vaccinations and will go into full operations on Tuesday.
The mass vaccination site in the Wellness Center at WSU held a soft opening Thursday and began vaccinating people, according to Maureen Stokes, assistant vice president for communications and marketing at WSU. Limited vaccinations continued Friday.
The center is the sixth large-scale vaccination site to be announced statewide, and the largest site in Central Massachusetts. It will operate from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday following guidelines set by the state regarding vaccine rollout phases.
The site will begin by administering 500 vaccines a day before increasing to 1,000 a day by next week, and is projected to administer 2,000 vaccinations a day by mid-March, according to Linda Larrivee, dean of the School of Education, Health and Natural Sciences at WSU.
