After nearly ten years with Colorado Mountain College, Rachel Pokrandt, vice president and campus dean of the Leadville and Salida campuses, has accepted the role of President at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon.
âThis is a bittersweet moment for me because I absolutely love the Leadville and Salida communities and our amazing, dedicated faculty, staff and students,â Pokrandt said. âWe have the most innovative and dedicated people at both campuses and I look forward to following their successes in the years to come. They all have students and community at the heart of everything they do and I see a bright future ahead.â

Umpqua Community College names new president
Current UCC President Debra Thatcher is retiring on June 30.

UCC officials announced Friday they selected Dr. Rachel Pokrandt after a nationwide search.
Pokrandt, currently vice president and campus dean of Colorado Mountain College, will be UCC’s 12th president.
“We are thankful and thrilled that Dr. Pokrandt has agreed to serve our students, college, and community,” UCC Board of Education Chair Steve Loosley said. “She brings a student-centered approach to decision making and has a proven record building partnerships with K-12 and businesses.
Pokrandt received her doctorate degree in management from the Swiss Management University in Zurich, Switzerland.
