Local student journalists continue racking up the accolades for their work. Recently, a total of nine journalists earned 12 honors at the Georgia Scholastic Press Association Spring Awards.
The Prowler, the online newspaper of Starrâs Mill High, was represented by five student-journalists in multiple categories.
Daniel Stackhouse won an All-Georgia Award for Caption Writing, a Superior Award for COVID-19 Coverage, and a Superior Award for Sports Feature. Annika Pepper won an All-Georgia Award for Photo Essay and a Superior Award for Sports Photography. Rachel Laposka won a Superior Award for Commentary. Mary Jane Gagliano won a Superior Award for News Podcast. Abby Carter won a Superior Award for Sports Game Coverage.

A select group of student journalists are among the nationâs best. Students from Starrâs Mill and McIntosh High have been selected for the National Scholastic Press Associationâs 2021 Journalism Honor Roll, joining a group of approximately 1,400 top scholars from around the country.
Members of The Prowler, Starrâs Millâs student-run online newspaper, honored are Emily Davis, Mary Jane Gagliano, and Rachel Laposka.
Members of the McIntosh Trail, McIntoshâs student-run online newspaper, honored are Nakia Harmon, Yunju Lee, Jordyn Mobley, Izzy Pullias, and Landon Wilde.
Members of The Legend, McIntoshâs yearbook, honored are Emma Bellantoni, Kait Kruzan, and Natalie Spellman.
