DHSC totally refutes Dr Glover s intellectual property theft claim Ashford responds to damaging allegations The health minister says he  totally refutes claims by a genomics expert that his department stole her intellectual property. Dr Rachel Glover, who s the managing director of Taxa Genomics and played a fundamental role in the creation of the on-Island Covid-19 testing facility, accused the Department of Health and Social Care of copying software belonging to her company. She made the comments during a Tynwald committee hearing last week, as she gave evidence on genomic sequencing as part of the ongoing response to the pandemic. It follows a dispute over the nature of her contract with DHSC, which ultimately lead to her resignation in December.

Dr Rachel Glover, who is the chief scientific officer for Taxa Genomics Limited, gave evidence to the Public Accounts Committee today.  You can listen to the full session here.  She was also questioned on her belief that senior staff were advising the Council of Ministers on things that were outside of the scope of their qualifications and experience.  Dr Glover claims that became clear when listening to the Covid-19 media briefings:

Councillor Alison Barnes, Cabinet Member for Children at R&CBC, Anthony Potts of Department for Education, Mark Gardham, Regional Director at Tilbury Douglas Construction, Elizabeth Horne, CE at Horizons Trust and Maurice Jones, Chair of Horizons A NEW school has opened for children from right across the borough on the day pupils return to school across the region. The Mo Mowlam Academy, which has specialist provision for children, has been built in Redcar opposite Redcar and Cleveland College on Corporation Road and means that more children will be educated closer to home. Previously, more than 30 children in the borough with specialist needs had to be educated elsewhere.
