June 03, 2021
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Penn State’s Student Philanthropy Network (SPN) recently announced that the organization has received a $10,000 matching gift for the 2021 Class Gift, the Student Access and Equity Fund. Through the match, which was made possible through the generosity of the Peter Weiler Family Endowment in Advancement and Philanthropy, any gift made to the 2021 Class Gift through Dec. 31 will be matched 1:1 up to $10,000.
Donations to the Class 2021's Class Gift, the creation of Penn State's first-ever Student Access And Equity Fund, will be matched up to $10,000 through an endowment created in honor of a longtime Penn State leader.
The Class of 2021 s gift was officially approved during Penn Stateâs Board of Trustees meeting Friday.
Rachel Bruning, president of the Student Philanthropy Network, announced the gift at the end of the fall 2020 semester â the network will create the Student Access and Equity Fund.
The fund, according to Bruning, will be dedicated to helping students who contribute to the diversity of the university and who are in need of educational expenses not covered by their financial aid.
The Committee on Governance and Long-Range Planning approved the gift by vote of acclimation.

Class of 2021 votes to create Student Access and Equity Fund
December 16, 2020
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Penn State’s class of 2021 recently voted to create the Student Access and Equity Fund as its class gift. The fund is designed to support individuals who contribute to the diversity of the student body and who are unexpectedly in need of help to afford educational expenses not covered through financial aid. I cannot wait to see the class of 2021 unite in support of the Student Access and Equity Fund and the positive impact it will have on our campus and Penn State students,” said Rachel Bruning, president of the Student Philanthropy Network. “I hope that our peers are similarly excited about the gift and its purpose ensuring that our class legacy is one defined by our working together to create the most inclusive and equitable Penn State.
