In my long experience as a public policy watcher and commentator, one of the major Achilles heels of public administration has been the tendency to put the proverbial square pegs in round holes, mostly for wrong reasons of political expediency and parochial interests. This phenomenon, hitherto, had pervaded the Nigerian polity, not sparing even the somewhat elitist aviation industry, especially the regulatory ‘Triumvirate’ of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
