CHARLESTON, W.Va. Rabbis from across West Virginia came together Thursday to participate in a virtual Yom HaShoah memorial service commemorating the six million Jews who died in the Holocaust.
The West Virginia Commission on Holocaust Education organized the event. Memorial services are typically held in communities to honor the victims.
“We light memorial candles in remembrance and to recall the light that the souls of those who perished through the Shoah and other ways shone into the world,” said Rabbi Joe Blair of Temple Israel in Charleston.
