People gathered at City Hall for a public Chanukah Menorah lighting.
Hanukkah is often called the ‘festival of lights’ and goes on for eight days.
Here’s a brief look at its history, which goes back 2,000 years when the Greeks suppressed the Jew’s freedom of religion.
In what’s now known as the Maccabean Revolt, a small group of brave Jewish people fought thousands of Greek soldiers, defeating them.
They then went to their holy Second Temple – which had been destroyed – to light the Menorah.
