(Indianapolis, Ind.) – A bill supporting local law enforcement is one step closer to becoming law.
Legislation co-authored by State Rep. Cindy Ziemke (R-Batesville) and State Rep. Randy Lyness (R-West Harrison) unanimously passed through the Indiana House of Representatives this week.
House Bill 1006 would require full employment record sharing between police departments to identify bad actors, provide additional flexibility to the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board in order to address significant officer misconduct, and require de-escalation training for new recruits and current officers.

Local State Reps Support Bill To Fully Fund All K-12 Public School Students By Travis Thayer

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Local State Representatives are voicing their support for a bill that would fully fund all K-12 public school students for the 2020-21 school year.
On Tuesday, House Bill 1003 passed through the Indiana House of Representatives.
The legislation aims to fully fund all K-12 public school students for the current school year, regardless of whether students attended classes in-person or virtually due to COVID-19.
The pandemic caused many traditional public schools to shift from in-person classes to remote learning. Under current law, schools receive 85 percent of tuition support per virtual student, which is defined as a child learning 50 percent or more of their instruction online.

Randy Lyness (R-West Harrison). Indiana Grown has become one of the largest marketplaces for agriculture products across our state, Lyness said. This new online tool allows more Hoosiers to shop local and support our neighbors farms and businesses.
When using ShopIndianaGrown.org, Hoosiers can find nearly 60 vendors offering more than 200 products for sale. According to Lyness, new vendors are signing up daily to sell their goods like honey, coffee beans, chocolate treats, hot sauces, candles and more. Hoosiers can shop by product category and vendor, and purchase directly from the site.
