Rep. Blaise Ingoglia, R-Spring Hill, will carry a slate of election reform measures proposed by Gov. Ron DeSantis into Florida’s 60-day 2021 legislation session when it begins next week.
Sen. Dennis Baxley, R-Lady Lake, prefiled
Senate Bill 382 on Thursday. It would mandate public school principals âset aside time for a moment of silence at the beginning of each school day.â
The bill is similar to Baxleyâs
Senate Bill 946, which passed through three Senate committees during the 2020 session before dying on second reading on the chamberâs floor.
Baxleyâs bill seeks to amend state statute âpermitting brief meditation periodsâ to ârequiring a moment of silence.â Under the measure, silence would be compulsory for at least one minute at the start of each school day.
