The district chapter of Builders Association of India (BAI), along with seven other construction associations, protested against the steep hike in prices of construction materials in Coimbatore. They demanded the government to take immediate steps to arrest the price hike and set up a regulatory authority. Construction work came to a standstill at more than 450 sites in the region, causing a loss of ₹5 crore.
