An Arkansas House panel late Tuesday delayed a decision on whether to endorse an expansive criminal justice bill intended to overhaul the state s parole system after lawmakers requested more time to review the measure.
The Arkansas Senate on Monday handily approved a wide-ranging criminal justice bill that aims to revamp Arkansas parole system and would require people convicted of the most violent felonies to serve the entirety of their sentences in prison.
A bill introduced Monday by Rep. David Ray, R-Maumelle, that would have added exemptions to the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act failed in committee at the state Legislature on Wednesday when only four lawmakers voted in support of the measure.
