Two employees of an oil drilling company, who were abducted by rebels from Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh on December 21 last year, have been released.
While Ulfa (Independent) released Ram Kumar, 35, in Mon district of Nagaland on Monday morning, his colleague Pranab Kumar Gogoi, 51, was set free at Nampong in Changlang district on April 1.
Lt Col Sumit K. Sharma, public relations officer (defence), based in Kohima, said in a two-paragraph statement that a patrolling team of the Mon battalion of Assam Rifles intercepted Kumar, a radio operator with the New Delhi-based Quippo Oil & Gas Infrastructure Limited, at Lungwa village along the border with Myanmar.

GUWAHATI: Directorate General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on Saturday appealed to the ULFA (I) to release on humanitarian ground the two kidnapped oil-drilling firm officials of the Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited. I sincerely hope that the ULFA (I) will not do anything that would be detrimental to the image of Assam in the national and global arenas, said Mahanta while speaking to a few television reporters.
DIBRUGARH: Two employees of a private oil drilling company were abducted by a group of armed criminals in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on Monday, reports Rajib Dutta.
The employees, identified as Pranab Kumar Gogoi and Ram Kumar, work with Quippo Oil & Gas Infrastructure Limited. Gogoi, a resident of Sivasagar, is the drilling superintendent of rig number 3 of the company. Kumar, a native of Bihar, works as the radio operator at the drilling site in the Diyun area of Changlang.
Changlang deputy commissioner Devansh Yadav said, “The abduction took place around 6.30pm on Monday. Efforts are on to trace the duo.” A source said, “The abductors came looking for one Keshab Gogoi. When they didn’t find him, they abducted the two employees.”

BORDUMSA: Sensation grips the Innao area under Diyun Police Station in Changlang District of Eastern Arunachal following the abduction of two personnel employed by an oil firm from a drilling site here on Monday evening.
The abducted persons have been identified as radio operator Ram Kumar (35 years) and drilling superintendent Pranab Kumar Gogoi (51 years).
Sources informed that the incident happened at around 6 pm on Monday. The two personnel were engaged by M/s Quippo Oil & Gas Infrastructure Limited operating under
OIL(Oil India Limited).
According to an eye witness, a group of about 10 to15 persons equipped with lethal weapons picked up the employees and headed on foot towards Balipather Village in the direction of Diyun town. The unidentified group wanted to know the whereabouts of another employee of the firm, Keshab Gogoi who has been on leave since last Friday.
