After a long week of legal drama, including the hours leading up to the game, Michigan did indeed play football on Saturday afternoon in State College, Pennsylvania. Jim Harbaugh was unable to make it to the stadium and take his place on the sideline due to a delayed judicial decision (litigation on the TRO will continue this week), but his Michigan football team took the field under the direction of interim head coach Sherrone Moore. They got locked in a nasty battle with the Nittany Lions that featured 1970s levels of passing but that couldn't stop the undefeated Wolverines. JJ McCarthy attempted only eight passes (officially). 30 of the final 31 playcalls were rushing plays. It did not matter. Michigan took the lead in the second quarter and never relinquished it, gobbling time of possession and holding Penn State to 238 yards of offense. To 10-0 the Wolverines go. Michigan took the football first to begin the game, PSU winning the toss and deferring to the second half. They
Scheduling Note: I apologize for the lateness of this. My prime UFR charting/writing time is on Tuesday but I worked an election (which is a 5am to 10pm commitment plus setup the evening before) this week and only had a quarter charted when it was time to go do that. PSU should be on time. UFR GLOSSARY is here. FORMATION NOTES: More even fronts today than usual, which made the OTs' lives hell but did open up some running lanes inside. Also when Michigan went up to 7 guys with their Split! formation I just called it Split 7 instead of identifying gaps where the LBs lined up. Their other pass-rush formation is this Odd front with a 0-tech nose, two 7-tech DEs, and Harrell a stand-up blitzer that they debuted late against Nebraska. Since nobody has a better name for it I'm calling it Crable, because "Ojemudia at Harrison" is too obscure of a reference. SUBSTITUTION NOTES: Michigan spent the whole game in nickel personnel, treating various backup Purdue TEs/2nd RBs etc.

After a bye week filled with turmoil and nonstop scandal discourse in the national media, Michigan Football finally let their players do the talking on the first Saturday night in November. Without the clairvoyance of the omnipotent Connor Stalions, Michigan had no trouble beating down a vastly inferior Purdue team, using a dominant opening quarter and second half to overcome some sleepy offense in the middle section of the contest. It wasn't JJ McCarthy or the receivers' sharpest games; it also didn't matter whatsoever. Michigan won 41-13 and are 9-0 for the second straight season. Purdue took the football first, with Michigan winning the coin toss and deferring to the second half. Purdue picked up a quick first down but then punted, Michigan getting off the field on 3rd & 7 the way they would all night long, getting pressure against a depleted Purdue OL and forcing Hudson Card off his spot and into an incompletion. Michigan got the ball and it didn't take t
