A 120 per cent increase in development charges on new homes in the city proposed last month has been pared down to an interim 10 per cent increase for one year to allow city staff work on a background study and new bylaw with likely higher charges in years to come to pay for city costs associated with growth.
The background study may come as early as mid-2021 and would include higher development charges needed to offset the demand of building new infrastructure.
