CHULA VISTA
A man suffered serious head injuries Thursday when he was struck by a backing vehicle in a Chula Vista apartment complex parking lot, police said.
It happened about 1:30 p.m. at a complex on Second Avenue between Quintard Street and Orange Avenue, Chula Vista police Lt. Gino Grippo said in a news release.
The victim’s age was not provided, but Grippo described him as “elderly.” Medics took him to a hospital with serious head injuries, while the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators from the Police Department’s traffic bureau.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, Grippo said.
