LA GRANDE, Ore. – Dance music, free snacks and door prizes greeted the 110 people who attended an on-campus COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Eastern Oregon University on May 4.
The university partnered with CHD, Inc. Public Health, which provides services on behalf of Union County, to provide first and second doses of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine. Volunteers and staff from CHD brought supplies and expertise to Quinn Coliseum for an afternoon of serving students.
LA GRANDE â The $9 million Eastern Oregon University Field House under construction may be less than a year from completion.
âThe building is scheduled to be completed in April of 2022,â said John Garlitz, EOUâs director of planning and facilities.
Construction workers are in the process of preparing the site for the pouring of a concrete foundation for the future structure. Work on the buildingâs exterior then will start and should be finished by early fall. Once this is done, construction workers will have the protection they need from the weather to do the interior work for the Field House, Garlitz said.
LA GRANDE â Eastern Oregon University hosted a COVID-19 vaccination clinic Tuesday, May 4, that drew almost 100 students, faculty and staff to the La Grande campus to receive their first dose of the Moderna vaccine.
The effort comes as vaccination rates around the country climb while cases countywide continue to remain low. COVID-19 infection rates have fallen to just under 72 cases per 100,000 residents, according to the Oregon Health Authority, marking a steady decline since the county reopened businesses in late February of this year.
The clinic at Quinn Coliseumâs practice gym was a partnership between the university and the Center for Human Development. Many of the attendees said they learned about the clinic through an EOU email.
