QUINCY – A plan for the city to renew its commitment to Quincy College and build a permanent home for the institution has already rubbed some city councilors the wrong way as elected officials question the school s long-term viability and the city s role in its operation.
Mayor Thomas Koch first announced plans for a new building downtown, which would hold some city offices and serve as a permanent Quincy College campus, at his inauguration in early 2020.
Last week, during his State of the City address, he recommitted to the plan and at Monday s city council meeting put forward a $23 million appropriation that would be used to buy land for the building at 1177 and 1227 Hancock St.
