A matching-funds program will benefit students hoping to earn a scholarship to attend Routt Catholic High School, according to the Catholic Diocese of Springfield.
A Chicago couple is matching donations to 12 schools in the diocese up to $15,000 a school for donations received by March 31. Routt is among the 12 schools.
Donors to the tax-credit scholarship program receive a 75% state income tax credit on their donation.
Donations must be made to the school through EmpowerIllinois.com, which runs the scholarship program, to be eligible for the match. Donors will need a mytax.illinois.gov account before applying for a tax credit, and setting up an account can take up to 10 days.
