We have ordered scores of arrests following protests in oakland, police or the crowd to disperse when a countywide curfew took effect at it a clock tonight. Officers detained 40 people for violating the curfew and the county sheriff is reporting 100 arrests. This was mostly a peaceful night. We spoke with protesters in oakland and walnut creek, they tell us they dont want looting and violence to overshadow their message.
