Two injured as vehicle hits tree in Algansee Township

By Jim Measel May 10, 2021 | 7:23 PM ALGANSEE TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Two persons were injured Monday afternoon in what turned out to be the third injury crash of the day in Branch County. The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened at 3:19 p.m. on Fisher Road east of Hoopes Road in Algansee Township. They say an eastbound vehicle driven by 20-year-old Emmett George Johnson Junior of Hobart, Indiana was traveling to fast in a curve. Johnson then lost control, crossed the center line, left the road and struck a tree. He was cited for impeding traffic. Johnson and passenger 19-year-old Kendra Kling of Reading were treated at the scene and later went on their own to a nearby hospital to be checked out.

QFD completes investigation on house fire Unmute The homeowner escaped safely but the fire that took the lives of 13 cats. Quincy Fire Department Deputy Chief Steve Salrin said they were called on scene around 5:30 to find the home ablaze. Salrin said his men were on the scene until about 10 pm last night to complete the full investigation. The homeowner made it out of the home safely but his 13 cats were lost in the fire. Cause undetermined due to the extent of the fire damage. It appears they ve identified the area that it originated. But beyond that not exactly sure what happened.

Road Commission employee credited with assisting injured motorcyclist

Coldwater, MI, USA / WTVB | 1590 AM · 95.5 FM | The Voice of Branch County Apr 8, 2021 11:03 AM ALGANSEE TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Branch County Road Commission employee is being credited with assisting an injured man after the man’s motorcycle was struck by another vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Algansee Township. Road Commission Engineer and Manager Jay Miller says road grader driver Rick Fillmore assisted the injured man until rescue crews arrived at the scene of the crash on Campbell Road west of Brocklebank Road. Miller says Fillmore was working on a nearby road project when the crash took place at about 2:25 p.m. on Tuesday.
