Rosenwald School buildings were largely the gift of Julius Rosenwald (1862-1932) of Chicago. Rosenwald built Sears Roebuck into America's leading mail order house and was one of the wealthiest men in America. He founded Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry and then led an historic change for black Americans by building schools for them.
