Retired Maj. Kristine Kline of Richland was presented with a Quilt of Valor.
Quilts of Valor are awarded to service members or veterans who have been touched by war. The hand- or machine-quilted comforters are presented as awards for service, not gifts.
Glenda and Dave Schlabach, also of Richland, presented Kline with the red, white and blue quilt they made especially for her. The ceremony took place at Zion United Methodist Church in Myerstown.

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Elks Lodge hosted a Quilt of Valor Ceremony Saturday, honoring three Vietnam War veterans Wesley Williams, Robert Cobler, and William Richmond.
Quilts are given to comfort vets during difficult times. Sometimes, wounds aren’t always physical, and the quilts aim to heal emotional pain.
Williams spent two tours in Vietnam and said his quilt means the world to him.
