SEATTLE Chef/Owner Chester Gerl named his restaurant Gracia Cocina Mexicana after his mother, Grace. He’s been creating cool Mexican dishes in Ballard for 5 years, prior to that he helmed Matt’s in the Market, then helped open Rosie’s – a popular Mexican restaurant in New York’s East Village. Gracia’s menu features many central and southern Mexican dishes and the restaurant was also recently named one of the top 11 tequila/mezcal bars in the country by the website justluxe.com

It’s no secret that the alpha Mexican/Salvadorean spot in downtown Rehoboth is certainly Mariachi restaurant on Wilmington Avenue. Boss and founder Yolanda Pineda is no stranger to her native food, and though every dish is prepared under her watchful eye, I believe the key to Mariachi’s longevity is her day-to-day involvement in the operation. She glides from the kitchen to the dining rooms adjusting food on servers’ trays, stopping by to say hello to regulars, or darting behind the bar to whip up a tray of colorful frozen margaritas. Her constant presence is a value added at this two-level facility with an ocean view from the upstairs porch.

Guests can now indulge in these border-style flavors:
Texas Queso Fries – Queso-smothered fries, topped with melted white Mexican cheese, crispy bacon crumbles, creamy avocado ranch dressing and sliced pickled jalapeños.
Melted Queso Fundido – Melted Mexican and Monterey Jack cheeses mixed tableside with caramelized onions, poblano peppers and chorizo. Enjoy by scooping warm fundido onto hand-pressed flour tortillas.
