WINDSOR, ONT. In honour of Run for Rocky Day an additional $8,000 donation to Family Services Windsor Essex has been announced to help continue counselling services for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Run for Rocky Day 2021 was marked Friday morning by raising the Progressive Pride Flag at Charles Clark Square. Once the flag was raised all flags were lowered to half-mast to commemorate the death of Prince Philip. “Today we are announcing an additional $8,000 donation will be made to Family Services Windsor Essex to continue Run for Rocky counselling services for LGBTQ folks and Rainbow Families in our community,” a news release from the Run for Rocky Legacy Project states. “The $10,000 given last year on Run for Rocky Day has been fully utilized and we are thankful that we have been able to help fund much needed counselling services during this challenging time.”

Just a month after it was targeted by hateful vandalism, the Windsor community organization supporting those who identify as transgender or queer and their allies has announced a new name and a renewed spirit.
“I wanted to have a fresh start,” said Alex Reid, executive director of Trans Wellness Ontario, formerly known as W.E. Trans Support. “I think it’s important to have a vision in mind.”

The “W.E.” in W.E. Trans Support represented the initials for Windsor-Essex. Reid said he has been considering the name change since last November.

Spokeswoman Anna Goodman said: “This is not just a collection of exhibits but a comprehensive LGBTQ+ archive that the community of Brighton and beyond are invited to contribute to, enjoy and share.
“www.queerheritagesouth.co.uk allows visitors to upload videos, images and interviews, creating their own secure, digital archive to join a wide range of content available from March 26. Queer Heritage South Digital Museum now seeks contributions from those wishing to be part of this important online space, hosting rare LGBTQ+ photographs, memorabilia, writing and footage.
“Contributions can be fully captioned and credited, uploaded temporarily or forever. Designed for easy navigation, www.queerheritagesouth.co.uk will be fully searchable so viewers can locate the histories and stories that resonate with their own lives.
