It says everything about their growing status in the game that Steph Kyriacou and Sarah Wilson are more expectant than nervous before the Isuzu Queensland Open.
The rising stars, the first women confirmed into the 11-14 March championship at Pelican Waters on the Sunshine Coast, have both taken huge steps in their golfing careers in the past year.
And while neither has any expectation of mixing it in the distance stakes with the men, the calm confidence they each exude speaks volumes of their mindset.
Sydneysider Kyriacou, who won the Australian Ladies Classic at Bonville in February last year as an amateur, took the professional plunge soon afterwards and had a sensational year on the Ladies European Tour to win rookie of the year honours despite only playing a limited schedule.
Admittedly Jamie hit shots for each member of the groups â 128 players in total.
And it was the same in 2019 and again last year, when he also holed out at the par-three final hole.
In the first two years the beneficiary of Jamieâs sharp shooting was Helen Fraser, while this yearâs recipient was Yvonne Richter. Sarah Wilson, Pelican Waters Golf Club member. Picture: Patrick Woods
Sarah again takes on the men in Queensland Open
Sarah Wilson, the Pelican Waters amateur who fought her way into last yearâs Queensland Open through a stressful round of pre-qualifying, gets a walk-up start to this yearâs event.
IMMAF AUSTRALIA SHOWS THE WAY WITH COVID SAFE MMA EVENT 03/03/21
The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation of Australia (IMMAFA) successfully held its first COVID safe event of 2021, the Queensland Open on 20 February.
IMMAF rules, MMA competitions present amateur mixed martial arts tournaments in an Olympic format, with the international body (the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation) eyeing eventual participation in the Olympic Games.
The Australian national federation event, held at Gamebred Academy in Brisbane, featured 38 athletes from five Nations including Australia, New Zealand, France, Brazil, and Greece - all based in Australia. The matches included youth (U18s), junior and senior bouts. For many competitors, it was their first time on the IMMAF circuit and with so many young athletes taking part, IMMAFA believes the tournament looks set to expand in future.

Anthony Quayle has climbed the Isuzu Queensland Open mountain; great mate Jake McLeod is eager to share the summit.
And, as ever for athletes with maroon coursing through the veins, the drive for both to excel on home soil at Pelican Waters next month adds an extra dimension.
Quayle and McLeod were among the first to confirm their entries for their state championship, each with lofty expectations before heading back to tour duties in Japan and Europe, respectively.
Defending champion Quayle, who held his nerve to outlast Jack Thompson in a playoff last year, said his breakthough win had been vital in his development.
