Wills s Conviction Overturned by Appeals Court

Cusenza Former borough Councilman Ruben Wills, who was found guilty in 2017 of pocketing thousands of dollars in public campaign funds and charitable grant money for personal benefit and served more than two years in prison as a result, has had that conviction overturned by a State court of appeals, according to published reports. Wills, 49, represented Council District 28 (Richmond Hill, South Ozone Park, Jamaica, Rochdale Village) until 2017 when he entered prison in Upstate New York. Adrienne Adams has succeeded him. Then-NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said Wills allegedly stole thousands of dollars from the city Campaign Finance Board and the state Office of Children and Family Services. He was convicted of grand larceny, scheme to defraud, and falsifying business records.

Philip Grillo, 46, was taken into custody by FBI agents at his girlfriend s home in Glen Oaks, Queens on Monday. The Trump-supporting GOP leader who represents Assembly District 24  was identified for his role in the insurrection by his distinctive Knights of Columbus jacket, prosecutors said. According to court papers, Grillo entered the Capitol building through a broken window, then walked the halls of Congress carrying a bullhorn while recording himself on a cell phone. He was allegedly among the frontline of rioters who engaged in a physical confrontation with uniformed officers at the entryway.
