Advocates for arts education in Maryland have not slowed down their efforts to continue to fight for more funding and push to keep those programs going in school systems throughout the state.
Arts students in Maryland have been taking many of their classes in their craft online during the pandemic.
The Arts Education in Maryland Schools Alliance has also been helping throughout the past year to make sure supplies get to children whose families may not be able to afford them right now. Executive Director Quanice Floyd tells WBAL s Anne Kramer the organization teamed up with other arts groups to hand out art supply kits at locations where children and families could receive donated food.

Robert Lynch, the influential head of Americans for the Arts (AFTA), is taking a paid leave of absence amid investigations into claims of a toxic work environment under his leadership.
Lynch has served as president and chief executive of the nonprofit for the last 35 years and is currently a member of the Biden-Harris transition team.
