New Quality Money projects have been approved by the Students’ Union (SU).
On March 29, the SU released the list of the approved Quality Money projects with a specific focus this year on equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI).
The Quality Money program is a partnership between the University of Calgary Board of Governors and the SU to fund projects for the continued improvement of the university, campus life and students. The Quality Money program involves the SU receiving a portion of the students’ tuition to reinvest in student-directed projects. In November, the SU receives applications that are looked over by a student committee for several months before deciding the recipients for each year.

Rody Visotski ran last year and, to what I believe is the detriment of the student body, did not get elected. He’s come back this year for another go and I hope this time, voters choose him. Not only because he says he’ll keep coming back until he gets elected, but because he’s fantastic. He’s passionate, energetic and has a large but well-thought through platform. He’s not in any state of starry eyed naivety about how the SU operates and knows what’s doable and what isn’t. Visotski is someone you can listen to for hours and not get bored. Along with the responsibilities outlined for all SLC members, faculty representatives are accountable for responsibilities particular to their role including: Reporting to students of their faculty the policies, positions and programs of the SU, reporting to their faculty itself (e.g., Dean’s Council) the policies, positions and programs of the SU, representing student constituents of their faculty at SLC, representing student constituents of their faculty on university committees and reporting to the VP Academic on matters of academic importance within their faculty.
