29 of the 32 teams that will take part in the 2023 IHF Men’s Junior World Championship are now known, after Croatia and Poland earned their tickets to Germany/Greece 2023, winning their respective Qualification Phase tournaments, which took place in Chieti, Italy, between 6 and 8 January 2023.
Croatia, the runners-up at the previous edition of the competition, which was organised in Spain four years ago, failed to punch their ticket at the M20 EHF EURO 2022 but were flawless this time around, pulling no punches.
Two European, one African and one Asian side are facing off in Group H of the 2023 IHF Men’s World Championship in Poland and Sweden, with three places up for grabs for the main round. It projects to be a well-balanced group, where surprises can be sprung.
The favourites are undoubtedly Denmark, the European powerhouse which won the tournament in the past two editions, at Denmark/Germany 2019 and Egypt 2021, without dropping a single match.
Nine teams have progressed to the Qualification Europe Phase 2 of the 2023 IHF Women’s World Championship after the double-headers scheduled for the previous week produced entertaining matches, with some surprises springing during the last six days.
The long road to the 2023 IHF Women’s World Championship will start on Tuesday, 1 November 2022, with the throw-off of Phase 1 of the European Qualification, where 18 teams will try to secure their berth for the next step of the path to the final tournament.
