Shooters Manu Bhaker and Yashaswini Singh Deswal failed to make the final of the women s 10m air pistol event at the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday. Bhaker finished 12th with a total of 575, while Deswal ended up 13th with a total of 574. The qualification was topped by China s Jiang Ranxin, who shot a Qualification Olympic Record of 587 to make the final.
Bhaker had a great start to her qualification, shooting 98 - including eight 10s - to finish third at the end of the first series. Deswal, on the other hand, had a much slower start as several 9s and an 8, for a total of 94, had her in 34th place by the end of her first series.

Former World No. 1 shooter Heena Sidhu on Saurabh Chaudhary s shock exit (1:56)
Saurabh Chaudhary finished seventh in the men s 10m air pistol final at the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday.
Contesting his maiden Olympics, Chaudhary had topped the qualification event with a total of 586, including a perfect 100 in the fourth series. Abhishek Verma, the other Indian in the field, failed to make the final after finishing 17th with 575.
In the eight-man final, Chaudhary was in eighth place after the first few shots but moved up to seventh after his first 10 shots yielded a total of 96.8. In the elimination rounds, Chaudhary moved up to sixth place after shooting a 10.2, while South Korea s Mose Kim could only manage 8.8.

Tokyo, Jul 24 (IANS): Young Chinese shooter Yang Qian clinched the first gold of the Olympic Games, emerging victorious in the women s 10m air rifle, even as top Indian shooters, Apurvi Chandela and Elavenil Valarivan, had a forgettable outing here on Saturday.
Russian Anastasiia Galashina took the silver, while Nina Christen of Switzerland bagged the bronze.
Yang, who was ranked sixth in the qualification with 628.7 points, scored 251.8 points in the final, beating Russian Anastasiia s 251.1 points to begin China s hunt for medals at the quadrennial games.
Trailing by a mere 0.1 point ahead of the two final shots, Yang saw the gap widened despite a 10.7-point shot, as her rival made an impressive 10.8.
