IBM announced that it had taken a massive step forward in chip technology by creating the first 2nm chip in the world. The company stated that it had squeezed 50 billion transistors onto a chip the size of a person s fingernail.

The architecture can help processor makers deliver a 45% performance boost with the same amount of power as the current 7nm-based chips, or the same level of performance using 75% less energy, according to IBM.
A lot of 2nm-based processors will likely deliver something in between, which is a balance of better performance and improved power efficiency.

TSMC, Apple s chip partner, will be attending a White House virtual summit on Apr. 12 to discuss with other chip producers and tech executives how to fix the ongoing global semiconductor shortage.

The issue is also affecting Apple and its products, with issues acquiring some parts affected by the market problems.
As part of a bid to find a solution to this problem, the White House is holding a virtual summit on Apr. 12, including the CEOs and other executives from many major producers.

According to a Macrumors report on Thursday, Apr. 8, the delay in MacBook production was caused by shortages of a component mounted on printed circuit boards before final assembly.
Meanwhile, iPad assembly was delayed due to the shortage of displays and display components.
