HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ Nelson Chang s families, friends, neighbors, and loyal customers are still mourning the loss of their favorite ice cream man. The beloved owner of the Yardville Carvel ice cream shop was honored on Friday by Governor Phil Murphy during his weekly coronavirus briefing.
Murphy noted that Nelson and his wife, Leslie, came to the United States in 1978 from Taiwan with an American Dream to own his own business. The Changs moved to Hamilton 35 years ago. Nelson and Leslie were married for 43 years.
The Yardville community is mourning the loss of one of their own. Nelson Cheng, the owner of the Yardville Carvel Ice Cream shop, passed away yesterday (February 10th). He was only 67.
I saw the news on Facebook last night, and was absolutely amazed at how many local people were posting how terribly sad they are about Mr. Cheng s passing. Clearly, Mr. Cheng has made a huge impact in the community. I can feel their grief.

Sierra Club: West Windsor getting paved over with warehouses
West Windsor has reached a settlement agreement with Atlantic Realty Development Corporation regarding the former Howard Hughes property.
The 653-acre undeveloped property is located at Route 1 and Quakerbridge Road. According to the settlement agreement, 5.5 million square feet of warehouse and distribution facilities will be developed within the interior of the site with retail, office, hotel, and other commercial uses along Route 1 and Quakerbridge Road.
“West Windsor is already being overrun by sprawl, and now they’re adding warehouse sprawl. The last large areas of open space in the area will now be paved over with warehouses. This is a giveaway to developers. It will cause more truck traffic, more water pollution, and more air pollution. This site is already across from the Quaker Bridge Mall, Mercer Mall, and Nassau Park Pavilion. This area doesn’t need any more commercial development,” said Jeff Tittel, d
