At the crucial Quad summit in Tokyo on Tuesday, the four leaders welcomed a new maritime security initiative and launched the Quad Fellowship programme.
The second in-person Quad meet was held on Tuesday among PM Narendra Modi, US president Joe Biden, Japanese PM Fumio Kishida and Australian PM Anthony Albanese. While PM Modi focused on the development of the Indo-Pacific region, Biden sought to use the Quad platform to slam Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.
The White House has issued a statement, stating that the partnership will innovate upon existing maritime domain awareness efforts, rapidly bringing emerging technologies to bear for the greater good of the Indo-pacific technology.
