‘It’s All About Our Individual Behavior For The Month Of January,’ Health Officials Warn
Some frontline personnel received their first dose of the Modera COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday, including staff with REMSA and members of the Nevada National Guard who have been a part of the state’s COVID-19 response. But officials argue we won’t see an impact on the current cases until much later.
Statewide, 76% of adult ICU beds are occupied. And that’s a cause for concern in Washoe County, where about half of the ICU beds are occupied by patients with confirmed or suspected COVID-19.
A Quad Counties municipality is asking you to shop local, if you can.
At Richmond Co.’s December regular council meeting Monday night, councillors issued a “Shop Local” proclamation declaring Dec. 21-24 days to buy from local business.
Afterward, Warden Amanda Mombouquette said small businesses still need our support.
“It was, again, a no brainer for us to be able to pass that kind of a proclamation,” she said. “But it’s not just to shop local during Christmas, it’s to shop local all the time, whenever you can to support local business owners, because they’re the people who support us.”
Right now, 90 percent of staffed hospital beds are occupied.
Nevada To Receive 164,150 Vaccines In December

Federal officials have allocated 164,150 vaccines to be distributed in Nevada this month. State officials plan to distribute the initial doses to frontline health care workers and nursing home residents and staff. More than 173,000 people are designated as part of the first distribution tier forcing the state to decide how to prioritize among health care workers. Officials said they plan to prioritize individuals in high risk environments and were still determining what each category entailed, including whether essential retail workers included casino employees that the state has said are key to economic recovery.
