After 50 years in Quabbin school district, educator gets ride in firetruck
BARRE When a firetruck pulled up in front of Ruggles Lane Elementary School on Tuesday co-principal Susanne Musnicki thought there could only be two reasons why.
“Either the school’s on fire, or they’re making a way bigger deal about this than they should,” she said.
Turns out, it was a big deal.
Musnicki was celebrating her retirement after 50 years in education, all in the Quabbin Regional School District.
When she started in 1971, she was the only woman in the Social Studies Department. A recent graduate from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, she’d been a student teacher at Quabbin and was glad to work in a familiar school
