见到许国强时，他刚接到隔壁村的电话，请他和妻子当晚去村里放映电影。
1988年，21岁的许国强成为了一名电影放映员。此后的30多年里，许国强和妻子平均每年中有超过200天都奔波在共和县的各个村庄里，为群众义务放电影。放完电影，夫妻俩时常是三更半夜还在回家的路上，交通不便不说，也经常会因为风雪交加或暴风骤雨的天气而险情不断。身边有很多人外出打工挣到了钱，过上了更好的生活，但是许国强从来都没想过要放弃在这片草原上为群众义务放电影。
