An electric spark caused by leakage flattens two houses
LAHORE:
Four children and a woman were killed and 12 other people injured after a gas leak caused an explosion in Burki, Lahore area.
Two houses collapsed due to the explosion. The Punjab chief minister also sought a report on the incident.
According to police, a call was received on the emergency number at 6:30am on Tuesday that a loud explosion had been heard in Pangali village on Burki Road.
Station House Officer (SHO) Qamar Abbas told The Express Tribune that when he reached the spot, two house covering about 14 marlas had collapsed and there was smell of gas in the area.

A man died at a hospital after being shot on Shaheed-e-Millat Road on Friday. The man, 25-year-old Asif Masih, son of Riasat Masih, was a resident of Korangi and worked at a private firm.
According to SHO Aurangzaib Khattak, the man was shot twice in the head when he put up resistance during a motorcycle-snatching bid. The suspects took the victimâs motorcycle away while fleeing.
Responding to calls for help, rescuers transported the injured to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he succumbed to his injuries. A case has been registered while an investigation is under way.
PAS holds Effie Pakistan Awards

KARACHI: Pakistan Advertisers Society (PAS) held the first jury round of its Effie Pakistan Award programme for the marketing and advertising industry, a statement said.
The event was about ‘awarding ideas that work’ and celebrating the success of the industry.
Effie Pakistan is part of a global award programme which includes 52 national programmes, four regional and one global award programme. It aims to lead, inspire and champion the practice and practitioners of marketing effectiveness and is a symbol of achievement that is widely respected worldwide.
This year’s competition was launched in September 2020 and was open to all companies and advertising agencies that ran marketing campaigns between Jul1, 2019 to September 30, 2020.
The Creative Box initiative by Youth Action
BLACKBURN charity Youth Action is helping local children with their remote learning by donating boxes of stationery and creative materials. Dubbed ‘The Creative Box’, the initiative is the result of collaboration between Youth Action and local organisations including Westholme School, Crosshill School, Taheedul Boys School and the Cidari Trust. Businesses HPA Solicitors, SDP Media and The Cardboard Box Company also lent their support. More than 860 boxes have been distributed so far. An award-winning charity is continuing to provide free computers to children in East Lancashire as part of their Get Digitally Connected initiative. Youth Action, based in Preston New Road, Blackburn, has been supporting children and families for more than 19 years. And this month they announced that their digital poverty project with the Raspberry Pi Foundation is set to continue, meaning they will be able to provide families in Blackburn with Darwen with access to technology so that whether at school or at home, children are ready to learn and catch up after lockdown.
