Mendis shines as OC Chairman’s XI beats Dromedary team to retain Camel Trophy By: Times News Service MUSCAT: Oman Cricket Chairman’s XI retained the Camel Trophy by beating Dromedary Club, a team of British expats in Oman, by 16 runs in a nail-biting finish to the annual exhibition game at Oman Cricket Academy’s floodlit Turf 1 in Amerat on Monday.  The two teams play the match once every year to uphold the sportsman’s spirit the gentleman’s game so vividly espouses across the world. OC Chairman’s XI, led by Janab Sayyid Qais Khalid Al Said, in the absence of team captain Pankaj Khimji, posted an imposing 216 for 4 on the board in 25 overs with the help of major contributions from Mendis (33 off 25), Qais (31 off 13), Hemal Mehta (28 off 17), Wilson Burboz (20 not out off 9) and Mazhar Qayyum (20 off 25). Craig and Williams claimed two wickets each.

Sakshi’s outstanding season fetched her Best Batswoman, Best Bowler and Best All-rounder awards. Her team WCS was also happy to receive the Runner-up trophy on a cold Thursday evening.

Khawar wins Player of Year prize at OC awards night By: Times News Service MUSCAT: Star Oman all-rounder Khawar Ali walked away with the Player of the Year Award as Oman Cricket (OC)honouredthe toppers of 2019-2020 season badly marred by the Covid-19 pandemic at its annual awards night at Oman Cricket Academy ground on Tuesday.  Khawar scored close to 500 runs and picked up 15 wickets across 50-over and T20 formats during the shortened season. Janab Al Sayyid Qais Khalid Al Said, Vice Chairman Oman Cricket, who was the chief guest, gave away prizes to the toppers of Premier Division, A Division, B Division league and knockout tournaments in the presence of senior OC officials.
