Dublin s Q102 By Eamonn Falvey Public health officials are worried the progress made in fighting the spread of Covid disease has stalled. The reproductive rate is now thought to be close to one, while 592 new cases were announced last night. The number of people receiving treatment in hospitals after contracting the virus is currently around the same point as the peak during the second wave in October. Prof Phil Nolan said he is worried that any easing of public health measures over the next while will squander the good work done to suppress the virus. This is not the time to have mixing between households and not the time to be going back to the workplace unless it is essential. he said.

Another Boost For The City s Cyclists

Dublin s Q102 By Louise Phelan D Cruz Cycling in the city looks set to get another boost. A new two-way bike lane linking the Liberties to Smithfield has been proposed under new plans from DCC. Several new cycle lanes have already been rolled out across the city - including the Royal Canal cycleway, additions to bike lanes along the quays and lanes on Strand Road in Sandymount. With more and more people steering clear of  public transport during the pandemic, the council has ramped up plans to improve cycling conditions around the city.  Green councillor Michael Pidgeon says there s no time line as of yet for this latest project but many reps have been pushing for a link between the Liberties and Smithfield for a while.

Eastenders actor Tom Colley joins Emmerdale cast

Dublin s Q102 By Amanda Flannery Eastenders actor Tom Colley has made an appearance in the Dales. Emmerdale fans were left trying to work out the identity of a new character on the ITV soap this week as a mystery man was seen following and taking photographs of Nicola and Jimmy King. It turns out, the newbie in the village is a private investigator working for Juliette, the mother of Jimmy s son Carl. Tom has appeared in Emmerdale as a private investigator. (via ITV) However, the new character left fans wondering at his familiar face.  It turns out, the investigator is actor Tom Colley, who s no stranger to soapland.
