Australia’s Sydney Metro has confirmed two new metro stations at Pyrmont and Hunter Street in the central business district (CBD).
The new stations are being added as part of the Sydney Metro West project.
With entrances on the corners of Bligh and O’Connell streets and Hunter and George streets, the new Hunter Street station will provide access to both light rail and suburban rail lines.
It will also enable the commuters to easily board Sydney Trains at Wynyard and Martin Place, as well as Sydney Metro at Martin Place, due to its strategic location.

An icon of the cityâs entertainment scene, Frankieâs Pizza, will be demolished to make way for the Sydney Metro â a loss that may be mourned on Macquarie Street more than anywhere else.
The late-night pizza joint, live music den and nightclub on Hunter Street is a regular after-party destination for political staffers and journalists, as well as a CBD staple of Sydneyâs oft-maligned nightlife.
âWithout Frankieâs, government staff will have nowhere to go to hook up with normal people, and the Parliament will get even more weird and incestuous,â said Liberal-aligned political consultant John Macgowan. He also called it âsacrilegeâ.

The NSW Government has announced the acquisition of 13 city buildings lining the streets of Pyrmont and Hunter Street to make way for two metro stations as part of the Sydney Metro West line.
The stations will provide a link between the CBD and Parramatta, accommodating the needs of approximately three million people and significantly decreasing travel times.
Pyrmont’s Metro station will be located between Pyrmont Bridge Road and Union Street, whereas Hunter Street station will be accessed either via the corner of Hunter and George Streets or Bligh and O’Connell Streets.
Transport Minister Andrew Constance says the buildings will not disrupt living arrangements for city residents.
Two new metro stations have been confirmed at Pyrmont and Hunter Street for the Sydney Metro West project, which will connect Parramatta to the CBD in.
The entrances to the station in the CBD will be built on the corner of Hunter and George streets, as well as Bligh and O’Connell. An underground connection will also be built to link Barangaroo to Martin Place.
Commuters would be able to travel between the CBD and Pyrmont stations in two minutes, Mr Constance said, adding that 11 properties would be acquired in the city and two in Pyrmont.
