we re back here at msnbc. a former taliban who is tan freed last year after five years in captivity is now in canada facing multiple charges including assault. senior correspondent kate snow has more on this for us, in what is a puzzling and strange twist to this, kate. reporter: it really is. and we just learned that joshua boil appeared from jail at a teleconference in a court hearing in ottawa just last hour wearing an orange jumpsuit. the case will be back in court on monday, so they have given lawyers time to go over the evidence. boil is charged with more than a dozen crimes by court order. no one is allowed to say the name of any victims, but we received an e-mail by his wife katelyn who said, she and her children are in canada in good health and safe.
