Tourists will have to pay a fee of ten US dollars (nine euros) per person upon entry. Money will be used to protect the environment and culture on the island. The fee will then be collected directly at the airport or at the seaports from 1 January 2024. Holidaymakers must keep the receipt and a corresponding sticker until they leave Bali again. The island is best known to visitors from all over the world for its rice terraces, Hindu temples and beaches. Before the corona pandemic, the island had welcomed more than 6.2 million foreign holidaymakers annually.
Local tourism chief has slated Bali reopening to international tourists on 11 September, but this is still subjected to the approval of the government in Jakarta.
